What are linemen?

Telecommunication lines are an important part of our everyday lives. They carry data to support communication and entertainment through cable television, the internet, and telephones. As communities grow and residential, retail and commercial buildings increase demand for these services, linemen are needed to get telecommunication lines up and running. Linemen are responsible for installing lines as well as repairing or replacing them when they’re not working properly.

Importance of linemen jobs in West Virginia

By installing and maintaining telecom lines, each worker makes sure people have access to methods of communication often used on a daily basis. This impacts homes, schools, offices, retail stores, and other buildings in a community, enabling people to talk to family and peers, watch the news or their favorite TV show, check email, use the internet, and more. If lines are damaged due to storms, linemen are responsible for repairing the lines to restore these crucial services. The professionals in this field are hard-working, dedicated individuals.

Who do linemen work for in WV?

A variety of telecommunication companies employ linemen throughout the state of West Virginia. Since telecom lines are needed for homes, retail stores and other buildings, linemen may perform work in a wide range of locations, from urban areas to rural areas.

Below-ground installations

Below-ground installations require linemen to dig holes and trenches, place cables, and more. Linemen will also need to test the system after installation to ensure it works properly.
